I am a certified Ivy League ASL teacher with experience at the secondary and post-secondary level. I offer private American Sign Language (ASL) classes in the comfort of your home and community. I have experiencing working with children, adolescents, college students, and adults.
I support my students by attending Deaf Events with them in NY. I encourage immersion as the best complement to our private lessons.
I incorporate mindfulness into my ASL lessons, helping my students overcome nerves and express themselves fully.
Please contact me for rates, packages, and special offers. I look forward to signing with you!
My students’ reasons for learning ASL are:
– being visual processors, and so are curious to learn about a visual language
– having a Deaf family member or friend, and wanting to learn how to communicate with them
– undergoing a transition, and wanting to incorporate ASL as part of this change
– working for a non-profit organization in which Deaf individuals have no staff members who know sign language
– working as a healer (physical therapist, massage therapist, acupuncturist, chiropractor) and being unable to communicate with Deaf individuals
– genetic disease that precipitates deafness later in life
– loss of hearing due to aging or loud decibel exposure
– retiring and discovering a newfound sense of purpose
– passion for language
– curiosity about Deaf Culture as portrayed through various TV shows such as “Switched at Birth”
– learning disabilities such as Dyslexia, which make it difficult to take a spoken foreign language
– challenges with spoken language
– wanting to help Deaf individuals at their local, church, temple, mosque, or religious institute
– Deaf Studies majors who wish to incorporate ASL into their future careers
– Aspiring English to ASL interpreters who need immersion and knowledge of advanced grammatical structures
– language connoisseurs
– Exercise practitioners who wish to expand to a deaf and hard-of-hearing client base
